What is a dental implant?
An implant is something of an artificial tooth root. If you have a missing tooth it is possible that an implant could replace it. The implant is fixed into the empty hole and then given some time to heal. After the healing process, we will place a denture or crown to the implant to complete the treatment. A denture fitted to an implant doesn’t move like normal dentures tend to do, a crown, however, will work as your natural tooth would have done.
WWhat is a sinus lift/augmentation?
A sinus lift is necessary when one of the upper back molars was lost, as the sinus cavities have a tendency to drop down because it’s missing what kept them up high (the roots of the molars). In this situation, before placing an implant, the sinus cavity has to be lifted up again in order to gain space to place the implant.
What type of bone grafts do you use?
We use bovine bone graft material (called xenograft), which is basically a calcified mineral matrix that is going to promote bone growth, as well as autologous graft taken from mentone or mandible angle.
What is a build up?
When working with crowns, we have to make sure that the tooth is entirely healthy. In the case we find any cavities or failing fillings, we must clean the tooth and reconstruct the tooth with a new filling.
What is a post?
A post is needed to produce more firmness to the core of a tooth on which we apply a crown. Posts can only be placed when there is a root canal, still having a root canal does not always mean that a post is required. The doctor will be able to assess the situation and decide whether it’s the case or not.
What brand of implants do you use?
We use Anthogyr, Dentium, Straumann, and Nobel.
How much time do the interventions require?
The time you will be spending in our clinic depends very much on the type of amount of work you need. Generally speaking, we may be looking at various timeframes:
- Just implant placement/ surgical phases: 5 business days
- 1-3 units: 5 business days.
- 4 or more units: 10 business days
The whole estimate depends on the restorative work, the lab requires a certain amount of days in order to deliver the final work. Meanwhile, we would do our best to schedule some intermediate appointments and work in parallel on other issues, in order to make the most of your time spent in Romania. However, we would send an estimated time frame, together with the free estimate.
Why is the waiting period from 3 to 4 months to have the implants restored?
It is very important to wait for that period in order to give the implants time to heal in your jawbones; they need to fuse to the bone. There is a different wait time depending on where it’s placed: if it’s on the upper arch, the wait time is for 4 months and if it is on the lower arch, then we are looking at a 3 months healing process.
What travel arrangements do I have to make?
Basically, the travel arrangement for your dental holiday would consist in:
Securing the flights: this one is on you; we are not in a position to assist you with this step since there are many variables you alone can control better: dates, hours, airline preference, etc. There are a lot of options for flights to Bucharest International Airport, which is a 35 minutes drive from our clinic. In case you require assistance with getting a flight, we may be able to put you in contact with a partner travel agency.
Accommodation: We offer free stay at a 3*** hotel in the city of Ploiesti, in a newly developed area, where you can enjoy both tranquillity and walking distance from restaurants and shopping centres. However, if you are looking for another option, we can present you with a list of hotels that comply with your requirements, or, simply, book a hotel or any other lodging (including airbnb) on your own, and let us know the address.
Transportation: We offer free airport pick ups and drop offs to and from Bucharest International Airport, and free pick ups and drop offs for all of your appointments, irrespective of your accommodation area.
Do you give me something for pain?
If necessary, we can prescribe some medicines, and we will assist you in getting them from the pharmacy.
Do you use anaesthesia if I need? What type?
We use local anaesthetics.
Do I have the option for I.V. sedation during procedures?

Can I wear my dentures immediately after the dental implant surgery?
You may not be able to wear your current dentures once your implants have been put in place. This is to prevent them touching your implants and potentially causing pain, discomfort or even movement of the implants.
We provide the possibility of receiving a temporary plastic set of dentures during the healing process. These can be adjusted quickly and efficiently in order to assure a maximum comfort.
How and when do I schedule the first appointment?
